Material Selection in 30 Seconds

Custom Parts FAQ

What is the key difference between PC and acrylic parts?

PC suits impact, protection and functional parts; acrylic suits high clarity, display and visual parts. Final choice balances impact, temperature, transmittance, surface and cost.

  • Applies:Guards and insulation prefer PC; display, signage and light panels prefer acrylic.
  • Not for:Acrylic does not replace safety-grade PC; PC is not automatically flame-retardant.
  • Please provide:Describe the application, impact risk, working temperature and appearance needs.

What information do you need for made-to-drawing parts?

Provide PDF / DXF / DWG / STEP files marked with material, thickness, key dimensions, tolerances, quantity, finish and application; the more complete, the faster the quote and prototype.

  • Applies:All made-to-drawing inquiries.
  • Not for:Unmarked tolerances follow standard machining; critical dims are confirmed.
  • Please provide:Also provide quantity, destination and required lead time.
Upload your drawing →
Can you work from a sample without a drawing?

Yes — we can evaluate and measure from your sample first, but critical assembly dimensions, material grade and functional requirements must be confirmed in writing before production.

  • Applies:R&D prototyping, legacy part replication, no-drawing purchasing.
  • Not for:Complex cavities and fits are better with a drawing to avoid measurement drift.
  • Please provide:Send the sample and describe its assembly position and function.
Send a sample →
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Custom parts start from 1 pc; quantity affects unit price and process choice. Prototypes and small runs run on the same line, and volume terms are locked after sample approval.

  • Applies:R&D samples, multi-SKU small runs, new product iterations.
  • Not for:Special grades or volume bending / printing may carry minimums.
  • Please provide:Provide quantity range and target unit price.

How about prototype lead time and cost?

Engineering feedback within 24h; sample making takes 1–5 working days by complexity. Sample cost is quoted per process and quantity, and can be credited against volume orders by agreement.

  • Applies:Orders needing material, assembly, edge, color or print validation.
  • Not for:Tooling or special surface treatment extends the schedule.
  • Please provide:Provide drawings, quantity and the items to be validated.

What details are required for a quote?

Files / dimensions, material and thickness, color, process, finish, critical tolerances, quantity, application, packing and destination. Missing details are quoted as a range with assumptions noted.

  • Applies:New inquiries and revised quotations.
  • Not for:Pre-drawing quotes are indicative; final terms follow drawing or sample approval.
  • Please provide:Using our RFQ checklist reduces back-and-forth.

Can you machine large or thick parts?

CNC routing / turning handles up to 25mm; laser cutting covers 1–20mm acrylic and PC up to 12mm. Larger sizes and thicknesses are assessed per drawing.

  • Applies:Large panels, thick-wall covers and structural parts.
  • Not for:Oversized stock may require splicing or process changes; warpage and stress are assessed.
  • Please provide:Provide overall size, thickness and flatness requirements.
Request engineering review →
How do you prevent clear parts from scratching in transit?

We keep the factory film on, control handling surfaces, and use interleaving paper, individual bags, blister or divider packing, plus fragile markings.

  • Applies:Export shipping of clear or high-appearance parts.
  • Not for:Printed and polished faces must be flagged on drawings to match packing.
  • Please provide:Tell us the shipping mode and appearance acceptance criteria.

How to choose a material for long-term outdoor use?

Confirm UV, temperature, rain, chemical exposure and service life first, then pick a weatherable grade or surface treatment and validate by sample. Acrylic usually weathers better than standard PC; impact-prone outdoor parts use UV-stabilized PC.

  • Applies:Outdoor signage, light boxes and equipment covers.
  • Not for:No blanket outdoor-grade claims without a material basis.
  • Please provide:Describe the installation environment, orientation and expected life.
See the selection table →
How are price and lead time calculated?

Unit price is built from grade, blank size, thickness, yield, machine time, secondary operations, inspection, packing and logistics. Lead time follows the process queue and quantity, locked after sample approval.

  • Applies:Prototype, small-run and volume quotations.
  • Not for:In volatile months, prices are locked on order date.
  • Please provide:Provide quantity, deadline and destination for accurate quotes.

Are drawings and samples kept confidential?

Yes. Drawings and samples are used only for quoting and production; an NDA can be signed on request. Project files are version-controlled and never shared with third parties.

  • Applies:All made-to-drawing projects.
  • Not for:Except material information required by statutory inspection.
  • Please provide:Mention NDA needs in your inquiry.
Upload your drawing →
Do you provide mill certificates and third-party test reports?

Incoming and batch mill certificates accompany each shipment; SGS / UL third-party testing is available on request. Flame-retardant figures follow the specific grade's report.

  • Applies:Exports, audits and customer factory checks.
  • Not for:No certificates for unspecified generic claims.
  • Please provide:Specify the report type and standard in your inquiry.
